Spider-Man deepfake video reimagines the PS4 game with Tobey Maguire

Spider-Man for the PlayStation 4 was a smashing success, selling 3.3 million copies within the first 3 days of launch, well deserved for a title that captured the essence of a Spider-Man game successfully. Many may have wondered whether getting previous Spider-‘Men’ like Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield would have made the game ‘better’ but now, thanks to deepfake technology, we don’t have to wonder anymore.

A highly skilled talent by the name of BabyZone has been working on multiple deepfake videos, imagining actors as videogame characters like Keanu Reeves as Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow from Marvel’s Avengers. Most impressive though, is his work on Spider-Man, plugging in Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, and WIllem Dafoe into the game to surprisingly fantastic results.

Fantastic is probably an understatement, as you could probably see this video and think that it was the real deal from the game itself. While Maguire could fit in a bit more, Dunst and Dafoe really blend in so well that it’s really hard to figure out the difference without knowing any better.

The technology is astounding at the hands of talented individuals and it gives us a closer look at “what if?” scenarios that we wouldn’t have gotten to see otherwise. This is a perfect example that does the job exceedingly well, and as they say, with great power comes great responsibility… to use the technology for good.
