Australian Taylor “LagALot IG” Smith crowned inaugural Porsche Asia Pacific Forza Cup champion

After three rounds of Rival Qualifying Races and a thrilling Grand Final, Taylor “LagALot IG” Smith from Australia took home the first Porsche Asia Pacific Forza Cup championship.

Porsche Asia Pacific Forza Cup was the first esports tournament presented by Porsche Asia Pacific and Porsche Australia in partnership with Forza Motorsport 7. It featured 400 virtual drivers from 14 countries testing their racing skills on the 918 Spyder, 919 Hybrid, and 911 GT3 RS. This was done in three of the world’s most challenging tracks at Bathurst, the Nürburgring, and Le Mans.

The tournament came to a close in the Grand Finals which was held in Singapore on October 31. Here, 16 of the region’s best virtual racers from Australia, Brunei, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand faced each other in a Cayman GT4 Clubsport on two legendary racing circuits at Silverstone and the Hockenheimring.

The Australian inched out the victory beating the runner-up with just one point. He not only took home the inaugural crown, but LagALot IG also won the opportunity to race on the Hockenheimring in real life. He will enjoy an all-expenses-paid driving program at the Porsche Experience Centre in Germany in 2021.

“The Porsche Asia Pacific Forza Cup has been relentlessly action-packed right from the start, and the two races from the Grand Finals were even more intense than I’d imagined! Not only is it an incredible honour to be the first titleholder of the tournament, it’s also particularly meaningful as it’s my very first win as well. I can’t wait to test myself in an actual Porsche cockpit soon – it’ll be my first trip out of Australia, and I’m thrilled that it will take me straight to such an iconic racing circuit,” said Taylor “LagALot IG” Smith in a statement.
