Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV won’t be releasing in 2021

It’s been quite a while since we last heard about Diablo IV, and maybe even longer since the last Overwatch 2 update. While both titles are expected to show updates later in the month when BlizzConline airs, one thing we can’t expect is for these games to release this year.

During an earnings call led by CFO Dennis Durkin, it was confirmed that both these titles won’t be releasing this year, quoted as “We expect Blizzard’s net bookings to grow, given the momentum in World of Warcraft and the other initiatives we have in the business. Our outlook does not include Diablo IV or Overwatch 2 launching in 2021. And while Diablo Immortal is progressing well and we anticipate its launch later this year, we don’t have any material contribution from the title in our outlook presently.”

Fans of both games may be extremely disappointed about this, since Overwatch 2 seemed like it was almost ready to launch when it was announced back in 2019. As such, 2022 might seem like the more likely date for the game. Diablo IV could take a bit longer, but at least Diablo Immortal, the upcoming mobile game, looks like it’ll be a good effort by recent accounts from its alpha test.

Disappointed by the news? Are you still expecting big things from Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV?
