EA reportedly announcing a new game from an ‘established IP’, could be Dead Space
Update:
Eurogamer has said that the information from Grubb “tallies with information we’ve also heard” and Gematsu have corroborated the information, saying that “a Dead Space revival is in the works at Motive, which is said to be a reimagining rather than a sequel to the existing trilogy.”
Original:
EA have made fans very happy recently with the release of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, a trilogy that stands up with some of the very best. If recent reports hold true, EA looks set to repeat the fan service as they may be announcing a new game during their EA Play Live event scheduled on July 22.
Insider and GamesBeat reporter Jeff Grubb is known to put fans into a frenzy with his previous statements, and while some may have missed the mark, Grubb has a pretty good track record with these things. In a recent GamesBeat Decides stream, time stamp set below, Grubb was asked about what EA Motive was working on at the moment and quickly goes on to say that he cannot say anything about the project he thinks fans will be happy about it. Minotti goes on to say that “it’s an established IP” but doesn’t say anything more than that.
On other separate streams, Grubb made a comment that seemingly hinted on what IP it is, saying “we’re going to see it… if we’re not dead first”.
Fans have been waiting quite a while for a Dead Space revival, whether it be a remaster ala Mass Effect or a totally new game, but the IP certainly is strong enough to make a comeback that will surely be well received by the general public. EA Motive has worked on Star Wars: Squadrons, so it would be safe to say that they are very much capable of bringing Dead Space Back.
Here’s hoping to a Dead Space comeback, and if the reports are true, then we shouldn’t have to wait too long as EA Play Live is scheduled to happen on June 22.
