Eiyuden Chronicle — the spiritual successor to Suikoden — launching two titles for 2022 and 2023
Remember the recently crowd funded Eiyuden Chronicle making it the 3rd most successful Kickstarter video game campaign? It finally got an announcement on the Xbox and Bethesda showcase, showing off gameplay of the main title Hundred Heroes but also teasing Eiyuden Chronicle Rising for 2022. If you’re a subscriber to the Xbox Game Pass, you will be able to enjoy it on Day One.
Eiyuden Chronicle Rising is an action RPG set in the same world and before the events of Hundred Heroes, and will feature town-building mechanics as well as provide a back story for some of characters in the game.
“We’ve been working hard on the Eiyuden Chronicle franchise and love to see the amazing reactions from fans following our trailer at the Microsoft E3 event,” said Studio Lead Yoshitaka Murayama. “We’re telling a rich story with the Eiyuden Chronicle franchise, so much so that we couldn’t possibly tell it all within the confines of a single game. We set out to solve that problem with our companion game Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising which features
key backstory to the main game and a completely different gameplay style.”
Published by 505 Games and Rabbit & Bear Studios, the game features graphics engine akin to Octopath Traveller, but the gameplay and the vibe really boasts some close to the Suikoden franchise through and through. The turn-based combat especially imbibes that feelings, with more punched up effects and a soaring soundtrack, it’s definitely a must-play.
While we have two years to go until the main game, a teaser for the spinoff Rising was revealed to launch on 2022. How the latter game would look and play is unknown but we would expect it to be close to what was unveiled during the launch.
Eiyuden Chronicle Rising and Hundred Heroes is out in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
