Dead Space is reportedly being remade by EA Motive
Dead Space rumors have been floating around for a very long time, but recently, it has been receiving a lot of traction due to reports saying that it is indeed happening. Just a couple of weeks ago, Eurogamer and Gematsu have corroborated the information provided by journalist Jeff Grubb, hinting at a Dead Space reveal during EA Play Live on July 22.
Today, Grubb has finally taken the gloves off and goes on to say that a new Dead Space game is indeed coming, which is being worked on by EA Motive, and will be a full-fledged remake.
Gematsu initially reported that “a Dead Space revival is in the works at Motive, which is said to be a reimagining rather than a sequel to the existing trilogy” and this new report seemingly confirms that. Grubb goes on to say that Capcom’s recent Resident Evil remakes, particularly Resident Evil 2, is the inspiration for the upcoming remake and EA is taking notes from it.
You may remember that the Resident Evil 2 remake was utterly fantastic, even getting Game of the Year nominations back in 2019, so to draw inspiration from how Capcom did it is a very good move on EA Motive’s part.
Obviously, while almost all evidence points to the remake almost being certain, it is still advised to take this with a grain of salt, as EA has not officially announced anything yet. Leaks like this have happened before, especially with the recent release of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, so there certainly is precedent.
EA Play Live is scheduled to happen on July 22, so we only have a couple of weeks to go to find out if all of this is just smoke.
