Heavily rumored since late last year under the codename “Spartacus”, Sony has finally announced the long-awaited revamp of PlayStation Plus, which aims to provide more value for subscribers.

Announced on the PlayStation Blog, this is a refresh of Sony’s current offerings, one aimed at giving much more added value to players currently subscribed to PS Plus and PS Now, both of which are now being folded into one service. The main draw will be the ability to let players enjoy a vast library of games from the PS1 days, which is a feature that a lot of players have been asking for.

The New PlayStation Plus Tiers and Pricing

The new service will be composed of 3 tiers, which will include the following benefits for subscribers:

PlayStation Plus Essential

• This is the current tier that all PS Plus members are getting and will include online multiplayer and free games every month, along with cloud storage and exclusive discounts. If you are subscribed to PS Plus, you’re already basically on PS Plus essential.
• This will cost USD $9.99 per month / $24.99 quarterly / $59.99 yearly (SGD 8.90 monthly / SGD 21.90 quarterly / SGD 53.90 yearly)

PlayStation Plus Extra

• The next tier will include access to a curated list of 400 PS4 and PS5 games spanning blockbuster hits to indie gems like Death Stranding, God of War, and others from PlayStation and other publishers.
• The titles available in this tier will be downloadable.
• This will cost USD $14.99 monthly / $39.99 quarterly / $99.99 yearly (SGD 13.90 monthly / SGD 35.90 quarterly / SGD 89.90 yearly)

PlayStation Plus Deluxe (markets without streaming) / Premium (markets with streaming)

• The highest tier will get access to a wider list of PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP games depending on regions available for download and play.
• Premium will cost USD $17.99 monthly / $49.99 quarterly / $119.99 Yearly
• Deluxe will cost SGD 15.90 monthly / SGD 40.90 quarterly / SGD 103.90 yearly

The main difference between Deluxe and Premium will be the availability of up to 240 additional games that include PS3 games via cloud streaming (Premium only) and a wider library of PS1 / PS2 / PSP games via both streaming and download options. Time-limited game trials will also be included in both Deluxe and Premium.

When the new tiers go live later this year, PS Now subscribers will automatically be converted to PlayStation Plus Premium. Sony is also “working closely with our imaginative developers from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners to include some of the best gaming experiences available with a library that will be regularly refreshed.”

Obviously, this is great news for current and potential subscribers, as the new PlayStation Plus tiers offer them a lot more added value at nearly the same price point and are looking like one heck of a deal for players who want to experience the vast library of PlayStation games from years ago.

The new PlayStation Plus tiers and pricing will be available in select markets on a phased regional rollout schedule starting June 2022.
