Final Fantasy XVI receives a release date of Summer 2023
After a long dry spell, we finally get new information about Final Fantasy XVI in the form of a new trailer along with a release window of Summer 2023 for the PS5 and PC.
To close out the State of Play, Producer Naoki Yoshida provided the update that showed a trailer filled with gigantic battles between summons like Shiva, Ifrit, Ramuh, and much more. We also get a look at some actual gameplay, showing its acrobatic flashy combat system. It’s a great look at the upcoming title, which is sure to excite fans of Final Fantasy even more.
According to the PlayStation Blog, the game is under the direction of Hiroshi Takai and has entered the “final leg of development”. The current focus of the team now is further polish leading up to launch.

The last time we heard about the game, it was delayed by at least half a year due to complications that arose during development because of COVID. While many hoped for a 2022 release, we now know for sure that it has been pushed back to 2023.
