The Game Awards Returns December 8, Adds ‘Best Adaptation’ Category
Geoff Keighley has announced that The Game Awards will take place on December 8 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.
Additionally, Keighley has revealed that the show will be adding a new category – Best Adaptation. The category is said to “recognize outstanding work adapting video game IP to other entertainment forms,” and will include shows, movies, books, podcasts, comics, and more.
“The Best Adaptation Award is a way for the gaming industry and its fans to tip its hat to creative work that authentically adapts and often adds lore and context to our favorite gaming franchises. With so many game-inspired projects across entertainment, the time is right to honor excellence in adapting video game worlds to other mediums.”
More details about the show and its program will be revealed this fall.
Last year, The Game Awards awarded Josef Fares’ It Takes Two as the winner of the coveted Game of the Year award, besting other nominees like Deathloop, Metroid Dread, and Resident Evil Village.
