Xbox Series Consoles Won’t Increase Prices, Microsoft Confirms

In the wake of Sony’s announcement of a price hike for the PlayStation 5 across several markets around the world, including the Philippines, Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox Series consoles will stay put.

According to Jez Corden of Windows Central, a Microsoft spokesperson released a statement that will put Xbox fans at ease, saying that prices will not change as they strive to always offer fans great gaming options.

“We are constantly evaluating our business to offer our fans great gaming options. Our Xbox Series S suggested retail price remains at $299 (£250, €300) the Xbox Series X is $499 (£450, €500).”

That’s not to say these consoles won’t be affected by the ongoing global inflation, but this gives players assurance that for the moment, prices will remain as they are. Whether prices change in the future remains to be seen.

This is certainly a clear response to Sony’s recent move to raise PlayStation 5 prices across territories like the UK, Europe, and Japan, citing challenging economic conditions. Many fans across the world are fuming at the price increase, especially since the stock situation is still very low.

In the Philippines, the new price of the PlayStation 5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive is now PHP30,790 from the previous PHP27,990, an increase of PHP2,800.
