SEGA has revealed new details about Sonic X Shadow Generations‘ story, characters, gameplay, and stages.

Sonic X Shadow Generations will allow players to engage in epic battles with Shadow’s action-oriented gameplay in a brand-new story campaign set in a mysterious world. His Chaos Control, Chaos Spear, and new Doom Powers make for an action-packed experience unlike anything you’ve ever experienced as Sonic.

Shadow Generations Story

When a disturbing omen stirs Shadow’s memories, he must relive his past and his journey to the Space Colony ARK. What awaits him is a sinister threat that only he can stop.

At first glance, Shadow looks like a grim version of Sonic. In fact, he is the “ultimate life form” created by Prof. Gerald Robotnik. A chilling premonition compels Shadow to head to the ARK, where he finds his worst nightmare has come true.

Shadow Abilities

The game will feature Shadow’s signature Chaos Control ability.

Under certain situations, you can activate a high-speed move that lets you take previously impossible paths. Use it to stop time around you, escape from danger, or discover hidden routes!

• Chaos Spear
  One of Shadow’s signature moves. When performing it, Shadow throws a powerful spear-like bolt of energy that can stop and neutralize enemy attacks or activate mechanisms.
• Doom Powers
  Shadow can harness Doom Powers, a new set of abilities, to battle hordes of enemies, surf on water, and fly over obstacles.
• Space Colony ARK
  A stage with unique gravitational pulls, elaborate grind rail layouts, and missile turrets. An even more engaging experience is waiting for you at this familiar stage that originated from Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog!

Sonic Generations Story

Sonic’s birthday and universe are thrown into chaos when a mysterious new power reveals itself, creating wormholes that send Sonic and his friends hurtling across time and space.

After arriving in a colorless landscape, he encounters some familiar faces from the past—including a younger version of himself. Together, these two Sonics must restore the timeline, save their friends, and defeat their enemies!
