PlayStation Portal SEA Price and Release Date Revealed, Philippines Not Included

In a nutshell

  • The PlayStation Portal is Sony’s stab at a handheld device that will let players take their PS5 games on the go
  • The device has been out for a while now, but it will officially be released in Southeast Asia starting in September
  • Notably missing from the list is the Philippines

Sony has announced the official release date and price of the PlayStation Portal in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.

The PlayStation Portal is launching on September 4, 2024, in Singapore, and October 9, 2024, in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. Pre-orders for the device will start on August 5 across authorized PlayStation retailers in the said countries.

Pricing is as follows:

  • Singapore – SGD 295.90
  • Malaysia – MYR 999
  • Indonesia – IDR 3,599,000
  • Thailand – THB 7,790

Notably missing from the list of countries is the Philippines, which used to be part of these Southeast Asian release timings. The PS5 Slim was officially released in the Philippines earlier this year, so the lack of an announcement for this device is quite baffling because if the device was simply delayed, it would have been indicated.

Will the PlayStation Portal still be officially released in the Philippines, or will local players be forced to import the device? We’ll have to wait and see if Sony issues an official announcement.
