Blizzard’s Gamescom Opening Night Live Salvo Highlights Warcraft, Overwatch 2, and Diablo IV

During the recently concluded Gamescom Opening Night Live, Blizzard Entertainment President Johanna Faries took to the stage to celebrate their long-running franchises and provide players with updates on what they can expect in the coming weeks and months.

“This is an incredible moment for Blizzard: our teams are launching World of Warcraft: The War Within in just a few days during this massive year of Warcraft milestones, expanding the world of Sanctuary in October with Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred, and are continuing to deliver inspired new content and collaborations in Overwatch 2,” said Faries. “We are thrilled to be representing the work of so many of our colleagues, and to be celebrating here at gamescom alongside our amazing communities.”

For World of Warcraft, the global launch of The War Within expansion is scheduled for August 27, with early access beginning August 23 at 6 am SGT (UTC +8). Players can look forward to the first ever Warcraft Direct, which will be towards the end of the year, along with some in-game events celebrating World of Warcraft’s 20th anniversary, which will begin at the end of October.

In celebration of Warcraft’s 30th anniversary, Overwatch 2 has unveiled the newest Widowmaker skin, who embraces her allegiance to the Horde as Sylvanas Windrunner this September.

Blizzard’s Overwatch 2 will also make its presence felt at Gamescom in a joint stand with Porsche, highlighting their collaboration with a life-sized D.Va statue modeled after the new all-electric Macan and inviting fans to enter a real-life rendition of an iconic map.

For Diablo IV, a new reveal trailer for the upcoming Vessel of Hatred expansion highlights the mercenaries, who are ordinary people with extraordinary skills, available to fight alongside players.

Additionally, The Kurast Undercity, a new multistage dungeon, and The Dark Citadel, a new co-op PvE dungeon, have also been unveiled.
