It always fascinates me how much power a laptop can hold if you don’t consider resources as a limitation. While pricey, the concept of portable power is hard to deny, and if it’s the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9, in this case, then playing almost any game at max settings is a compelling reason for gamers who take the concept of on-the-go seriously.

This laptop is designed with laser focus to meet the demands of serious gamers, offering a mix of power, speed, and visual clarity in a package you can take wherever.

This screen is not only blazing fast but also provides extreme clarity, ensuring tear-free visuals and stunning gaming quality, with ample screen space to boot.

At the heart of the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 its aluminum chassis is a combination of the Intel Core i9-14900HX processor paired with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU. Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 Gaming Performance

The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 has 3 modes it can use to maximize the hardware – Auto, Quiet, or Performance. While Performance mode is the way to go for the most demanding titles, the fans get very noisy, so using this as a last resort is advised. That said, there’s almost nothing the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 can’t run with normal use, so hold out on using this.

To test the capabilities of the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9, we tried out 5 demanding games that would have given many PC setups a run for their money and see just how much this mobile powerhouse can handle itself.

*All games below were tested on the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 with the following conditions:

  • Ultra settings
  • DLSS Performance turned on
  • Laptop plugged in
  • Laptop Quiet and Auto modes used
  • Steam’s in-game FPS counter and/or in-game benchmark tool (when available)

Baldur’s Gate 3

The 2023 Game of the Year has shone the spotlight on RPGs once again, and while it has fantastic gameplay, it can also milk your system for whatever it’s worth. It is a graphically intensive game that will also tax your CPU depending on what area you are in.

Using the Legion Pro 7i Gen 9, the game runs at an average of 70-80 FPS on ultra settings at 2560 x 1600 resolution while in Quiet mode, and can also reach 100 FPS in light areas. If somehow you feel that you need more frames, pushing the laptop to Auto mode will result in averages upwards of 170 FPS, even reaching upwards of 200 FPS in light areas.

By all measures, this is noteworthy performance for a resource-heavy title, and players can fully enjoy the game’s rich visuals and detailed environments as they journey through the Forgotten Realms with the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9.

Black Myth: Wukong

Black Myth: Wukong is a beast of a title, both in gameplay and performance, and you’ll certainly need a system worthy enough of the Monkey King because it will push rigs to their limits. The PS5 takes a hit to frames even in performance mode, and for an action game where frames matter, you’ll want to go above and beyond.

Using the in-game benchmark tool, the Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 handles this game exceptionally well considering we are using Quiet mode, achieving an average of 49 FPS on cinematic settings at 2560 x 1600 resolution. Since this is an action-packed title, players may want to squeeze the most out of the laptop, and running the benchmark tool in Auto mode will result in an average of 111 FPS.

The RTX 4090 GPU of the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 provides vibrant quality thanks to the game’s immaculate art direction, providing stunning vistas and a clear look at the great enemy designs.

Cyberpunk 2077

Looking away from its controversial launch, Cyberpunk 2077 is an example of a game that is capable of making you second-guess your PC setup. Ray Tracing is one thing this game utilizes to full effect, but it will also demand a GPU that can handle the neon lights of Night City.

Using the Legion Pro 7i Gen 9, there is a setting in Cyberpunk 2077 called Ray Tracing Ultra, and when we tried it out, the Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 performed at a respectable 36 FPS average in Quiet Mode, and 119 FPS average in Auto Mode at 2560 x 1600 resolution using the in-game benchmark tool

Considering this is one of the highest settings in the game with ray tracing on, this is a fantastic result, and anytime you can breach the 100 FPS mark with a highly ray-tracing-intensive title, you know that your setup is powerful enough to handle complex lighting effects with ease.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

Warhammer Space Marine 2 is the best that the series has been in a long time, and it’s safe to say that Focus Entertainment really knocked this one out of the park with gorgeous visuals and action-packed gameplay.

Space Marine 2 is a fast-paced action game that requires a powerful system to maintain smooth gameplay because of the enemy density at various points of the adventure. The Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 can deliver an average of 60 FPS on ultra settings at 2560 x 1600 resolution in Quiet Mode and upwards of 100 FPS in Auto Mode, which ensures that the exhilarating combat sequences are rendered properly.

Final Fantasy XVI

Final Fantasy XVI is finally on PC, bringing stunning visuals that will make you accept the truth that maybe your setup isn’t as tough as you thought it would be. With larger-than-life Eikon battles that fill the screen with hellfire, you’ll need a good rig to handle this latest installment in the legendary franchise.

The Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 handles this game easily, achieving an average of 60 FPS in Quiet Mode and upwards of 100 FPS in Auto Mode on ultra settings at 2560 x 1600 resolution. Characters and environments are rendered beautifully, giving players a stunning and immersive view of the world of Valisthea.

Whatever game you choose to play, the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 is an undeniable beast of a gaming laptop. Offering exceptional performance, its combination of the Intel Core i9-14900HX processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU handles the most demanding of games with ease.

Frames certainly matter, and when you’re clocking over 100 FPS at ultra settings in most games, anybody in the market for a top-tier gaming laptop should have the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 at the top of their list.

The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 is now available in the Philippines at a starting price of PHP219,995 and is eligible for a PHP4,000 Casio voucher in the ongoing Lenovo Holiday Shopping Spree promo.
