The Sonic Movie 3 is now the highest-grossing Sonic film to date. After such a reception, and if it wasn’t too obvious yet from the post-credits scene, Paramount Pictures has announced that the fourth film in the series will be released in the US on March 19, 2027.

Based on Sega’s global blockbuster video game franchise, the film series tells the story of the world’s fastest hedgehog as he embraces his new home on Earth.
Following 2022’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2 events, Sonic and his friends head to Tokyo, where they encounter Shadow, a mysterious new foe whose powers push the series’ speed and scope to the next level.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 made quite the splash upon its release in U.S. theaters on December 20, 2024, raking in an impressive $60.1 million during its opening weekend. This response not only crowned it the top film at the U.S. box office but also marked its highest global opening to date, excelling in 30 countries including the United Kingdom, Mexico, Italy, Australia, Poland, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, the Philippines, Panama, and Argentina.
The film series has officially surpassed the $1B milestone in global revenue.
