Wizards of the Coast has announced that the latest Magic: The Gathering Set “Aetherdrift” is set to launch for tabletop on February 14, 2025.

Pre-release events will occur from February 7 onwards and will build up to its high-octane launch in the following week.

Magic: The Gathering ‘Aetherdrift’ Events

Running from February 7 until April 30, eligible events at participating WPN retailers will feature exclusive physical rewards such as Campaign Pins from the three universes in Aetherdrift, A3 posters of two Graffiti Giants featured in the set, two race tags, and a customized Speed/Lifecounter.

The first three players in each WPN store to complete the Race To Victory tracking card by March 23 will qualify for the Race To Victory country championships and compete for an Aetherspark trophy. Five trophies are available across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia, each featuring the corresponding country’s name.

Players participating in multiple events throughout the season will build speed and earn progressively better rewards. Players can search for their local WPN store and eligible events here.

New Magic: The Gathering ‘Aetherdrift’ Mechanics

With the new Max Speed mechanic, players track their speed level after a card prompts them to “Start Your Engines.” Each turn an opponent loses life, the player gains one speed level until reaching ‘Max Speed.’ Various cards will interact with this speed level, increasing in power as it rises.

The Exhaust mechanic provides a one-time effect that can be activated once per game, allowing players to disrupt opponents or secure their lead. Victory often requires a reliable mount or vehicle, and both mechanics return in Aetherdrift.
