Ubisoft has announced the establishment of a new subsidiary dedicated to its flagship franchises, Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six.

This initiative is supported by a €1.16 billion investment from Tencent, granting the Chinese company a 25% minority stake in the subsidiary. Ubisoft will retain full control and consolidate the entity within its operations, and completion of the transaction is expected before the end of 2025.

The new subsidiary would include the teams based in Montréal, Quebec, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, Barcelona, and Sofia, as well as the back-catalog and any new games currently under development or to be developed.

The subsidiary will create evergreen, multiplatform game ecosystems, enhance narrative solo experiences, expand multiplayer content, and integrate free-to-play and social features. This move aligns with Ubisoft’s strategy to strengthen its financial position, reduce debt, and accelerate growth for its key franchises.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot described the initiative as a transformative step, enabling the company to innovate and deliver high-quality gaming experiences. Tencent President Martin Lau expressed confidence in Ubisoft’s creative vision and the potential for these franchises to evolve into long-term platforms.
