- Deep progression and customization system with earnable skins, mods, and seasonal updates.
Microsoft has unveiled a massive multiplayer deep dive for Gears of War: E‑Day, showcasing both PvE and PvP systems that redefine squad‑based combat.
Gears of War: E-Day Horde Siege: 12‑Player PvE Evolution
The new Horde Siege mode expands Gears’ survival formula into a 12‑player experience across sprawling maps in the city of Kalona. Multiple squads fight simultaneously, tackling emergent objectives and sharing the battlefield. Classes include Assault, Breacher, Marksman, and Medic, each with unique loadouts and tactical gear.
Missions range from short Blitz runs to grueling Horde defenses, with dynamic objectives like securing R.I.G. devices, repairing equipment, or surviving waves of Locust. Extraction remains the ultimate goal, and only one squad member needs to make it out alive to complete the mission.

Versus: Classic PvP, Rebuilt
PvP returns with 4v4 Versus modes, designed around fair starts and balanced gameplay. Gears of War: E-Day PvP Launch modes include:
- Team Deathmatch with dynamic respawns.
- Conquest, a twist on King of the Hill.
- Demolition, a bomb‑planting mode with no respawns.
- Crucible, a new mode centered on controlling the Power Core.
Six new Versus maps debut at launch, from the rooftops of Skyward to the war‑torn Precinct police department.

Progression & Customization
Gears of War: E-Day introduces a robust progression system with medals, ranks, and Re‑Ups. Players can unlock skins, mods, and cosmetics through gameplay, with no battle pass required. Nearly all items are earnable, with optional premium currency (Iron) for expedited unlocks.
Customization spans character skins, weapon sets, banners, emblems, and poses, with Legendary skins inspired by Gears lore. Seasonal updates will add new maps, classes, and limited‑time events.

Post‑Launch Roadmap
Microsoft confirmed five themed multiplayer seasons post‑launch, starting with Season 1: Emergence. Expect new maps, modes, and events to keep the fight fresh.
Pre‑orders grant early access to the open beta on August 6, letting players squad up and test Horde Siege and Versus ahead of release.
