Ubisoft Philippines has reached a major milestone in 2026, celebrating its 10th anniversary with the release of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
The remake of the critically acclaimed 2013 title represents the studio’s most ambitious project to date, co‑developed with Ubisoft Singapore and supported by teams across the globe.
Ubisoft Philippines Reimagines a Classic
As the eighth Assassin’s Creed title contributed by the Philippine studio, Black Flag Resynced highlights the team’s ownership of key gameplay features. From Forts and Harpooning to richly detailed environments like Kingston, Port Royale, and Long Bay, the studio elevated fan‑favorite elements while preserving the spirit of the original.
Associate Producer Alfonse Angliongto emphasized the scale of the project: “This was the first time the studio was entrusted with a project of this scale, with full responsibility and accountability for driving its successful delivery.”

Crafting a Living World
Ubisoft Philippines reimagined iconic Caribbean settings with modern technology. Using Physically Based Rendering (PBR), Ray‑Traced Global Illumination (RTGI), and Micropolygon advancements, the team achieved unprecedented visual fidelity.
Environmental storytelling further immerses players, from residents escaping the heat under verandas in Kingston to the disaster‑scarred streets of Port Royale. The studio’s new 5.1 Surround Sound facility added authentic Caribbean soundscapes, enriching exploration and quests.

Polishing Legacy Through Innovation
Gameplay features were refined to deliver more satisfying experiences. Forts now include dynamic crew participation, with Edward Kenway’s allies storming defenses and celebrating victories. Harpooning was rebuilt with physics‑driven mechanics, making encounters more visceral and responsive.
Lead Game Designer Choogs Tan explained: “We enhanced player expression and the narrative aspects to give players a more satisfying conclusion for the gameplay loop.”

A Definitive Pirate‑Assassin Experience
Ubisoft Philippines also ensured that Black Flag Resynced honors the original while meeting modern standards, thanks to QA veterans safeguarding the game’s legacy and artists and programmers pushing technical boundaries.
The remake is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, offering both longtime fans and new players the definitive pirate‑assassin adventure.
