Kingdom Hearts IV Additional Details

One of the biggest reveals is that Mickey Mouse will be playable in Scala ad Caelum, wielding unique origami powers to aid in battle. Alongside this, Maleficent is set to play an important role in the unfolding narrative, signaling deeper involvement from Disney’s iconic villains.

Developers also highlighted Quadratum, describing it as one of the largest locations ever created in the franchise. The city will feature dynamic traversal actions, allowing players to explore vertically, interact with environments more freely, and experience a new level of immersion.

With Square Enix stating they are “100% certain” of the 2027 release, fans can expect anniversary tie‑ins, special events, and collections to celebrate the milestone.

Kingdom Hearts 4 co-director Tai Yasue says, “I can confidently say and promise that it will launch in 2027. Schedule-wise development is very smooth. It’s not like a 80% thing, 90%, its a 100% thing. So we will be there 100% for sure. So, I promise you that.”

Nomura also shared that “We announced the game will come late 2027. Online, some people were saying the release date may get pushed back. I want to set the record straight: That is not happening.”
