Paramount Pictures has unveiled a brand-new“Ken vs. Ryu” featurette for Street Fighter, giving fans a closer look at one of gaming’s most iconic rivalries ahead of the film’s theatrical debut on October 14.
The featurette focuses on the relationship between Ken Masters and Ryu, portrayed by Noah Centineo and Andrew Koji, respectively. According to Centineo, the pair share a history that stretches back long before the events of the movie.
“Ken and Ryu go way, way back. They were training partners and friends for a very long time.”
Koji further elaborated on the dynamic between the two legendary fighters, describing them as blood brothers whose relationship fractured after a pivotal event sent them down separate paths.
What Is Street Fighter About?
Set in 1993, Street Fighter follows estranged fighters Ryu and Ken Masters as they are pulled back into action when Chun-Li, played by Callina Liang, recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament. What begins as a brutal competition soon uncovers a dangerous conspiracy that forces the former allies to confront each other, as well as the demons of their shared past.
Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the film aims to bring the beloved fighting game franchise to the big screen with familiar moves, memorable characters, and high-stakes martial arts action.
