‘The Legend of Zelda’ Live Action Film Announced by Nintendo
Nintendo has announced that a live-action film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda is coming and will be produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad.
Both Nintendo and Arad Productions Inc. will be working closely together on the film, which will be directed by Wes Ball (The Maze Runner, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes). Arad Productions has been involved in films such as Uncharted, The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2, The Avengers, and Captain America: The First Avenger.
Further details about the upcoming film state that co-financing will be done by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., with Nintendo shouldering more than 50% of the budget and Sony handling worldwide theatrical distribution matters.
Through this live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, Nintendo is leveraging the strength of its IPs and allowing more people around the world to experience the worlds and characters that the company has created through various forms of entertainment outside of its game consoles.
‘The Legend of Zelda’ live-action film currently has no target release window, and it has not been mentioned what game installment it will take its story from.
