SNK Corporation has officially announced the creation of VS Studio SNK Co., Ltd., a new subsidiary founded by legendary game producer Katsuhiro Harada.
Established on May 1, 2026, the studio is headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo, and will collaborate closely with SNK to develop new game software and bolster the company’s creative output.





Harada’s Vision: “Beyond Tradition, Crafted to Perfection”
In his statement, Harada emphasized VS Studio’s philosophy of blending technology, sensibility, and expertise to craft unforgettable gaming experiences. He explained that the name “VS” carries multiple meanings — from its roots in “Video game Soft” to the spirit of “Versus,” and symbolic phrases like Visionary Standard and Vanguard Spirit.
“We will generate new ideas and create memorable games from a free, open, and spacious environment,” Harada said, highlighting his goal of building a studio where developers thrive.
SNK x VS Studio – A Partnership Years in the Making
SNK’s Yasuyuki Oda expressed excitement about the collaboration, calling Harada a “long‑time friend and worthy rival.” While specific projects have yet to be announced, Oda assured fans that the partnership will lead to “even more exciting” developments in the future.
Harada’s Legacy in Gaming
Harada, a Waseda University graduate, spent over 31 years at Namco/Bandai Namco, contributing to arcade, console, and VR titles. Beyond development, he played a pivotal role in global marketing and community building, supporting fighting game tournaments and fan events since the 1990s, helping shape the foundation of today’s e‑sports culture.
