Capcom has announced that Onimusha: Way of the Sword will now launch on September 4, 2026, three weeks earlier than its previously scheduled September 25 release.
The highly anticipated swordplay action game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store.
Change in Pre-order Status
In line with the updated release schedule, the pre‑order bonus for the digital version will now be offered as an Early Adopter Bonus, available during the following periods:
- PlayStation 5 / Xbox Series X|S / Windows / Nintendo Switch 2: Until 24 September 2026, 11:59 PM local time
- Steam / Epic Games: Until 26 September 2026, 7:59 PM GMT+8
Due to the date change, all pre‑orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 digital version will be automatically canceled. Players will need to place a new pre‑order via the Nintendo eShop.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword Returns to Edo‑Era Kyoto
Players will step into the role of a samurai wielding the Oni Gauntlet, a mystical artifact granting the power to slay the demonic Genma. Set against the backdrop of Edo‑era Kyoto, the game promises blood‑soaked battles, eerie atmospheres, and a tale of vengeance and survival.
The series’ signature “Issen” critical counter mechanic returns, delivering fast, satisfying swordplay that has defined the franchise since its debut in 2001.
