In a nutshell

  • Postponed: Esports Nations Cup moved from Nov 2026 to Nov 2027 in Riyadh
  • Reason: Regional uncertainty, ensuring stability for 100+ national teams and partners
  • Commitment: Development funds, ecosystem programs, and publisher collaborations continue

The Esports Foundation (EF) announced that the inaugural Esports Nations Cup (ENC), originally set for November 2026 in Riyadh, will now take place in November 2027.

The decision follows ongoing assessment of the wider regional situation and consultations with stakeholders. EF emphasized that the move ensures certainty and stability for national teams, publishers, partners, and fans.

Commitment to Ecosystem Development

Despite the delay, EF confirmed that all ENC Development Fund commitments to National Team Partners remain intact. Programs supporting national esports ecosystems will continue, alongside collaborations with publishers and stakeholders.

CEO Ralf Reichert stated: “We owe them an inaugural ENC delivered under the right conditions and at the level this idea deserves.”

Global Scale and Ambition

The ENC has already generated momentum worldwide, with 100+ countries and territories securing official partner status. The competition is designed to complement existing esports ecosystems, creating new pathways for athletes, strengthening national development, and fostering fandom through national pride and international competition.

Esports Nations Cup Next Steps

EF will continue working with partners to clarify the revised competition calendar, qualification pathways, and transition plans leading up to the 2027 event. The postponement does not alter EF’s long‑term ambition to deliver a world‑class international esports competition.
