Square Enix has unveiled a wealth of information about Final Fantasy Resonance, its upcoming HD‑2D RPG reimagining the first season of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius.

Final Fantasy Resonance New Details

In Final Fantasy Resonance, players will encounter the Zoldaad Empire, a militarized nation wielding the Fire Crystal and magitek weaponry, opposed by a rebel army led by Jake. Jake, voiced by Jonah Scott (English) and Yoshimasa Hosoya (Japanese), fights with chance‑based abilities like Coin Toss and Gamble Shot.

Another key character is Sakura, a sage from Mysidia voiced by AmaLee (English) and Aoi Yuki (Japanese). Sakura is a powerful mage whose mysterious origins tie into the Ice Crystal.

The antagonistic Sworn Six also return, including Veritas of the Flame, Veritas of the Earth, and Veritas of the Light, each wielding devastating elemental powers.

Gameplay Systems

  • Visions: Crystallized heroes join battles when equipped, offering unique abilities. Affinity growth unlocks new skills, while staggering enemies can trigger Resonance attacks. Heroes like Firion, Onion Knight, Vaan, Lightning, Noctis, and Clive are confirmed.
  • Espers: Summonable entities fight for three turns before unleashing signature attacks. Carbuncle reflects magic, Leviathan floods enemies with Tsunami, Bahamut casts Megaflare, and Odin wields Zantetsuken with a chance of Instant Death.
  • Limit Bursts: Special moves activated by filling a limit gauge, ranging from powerful attacks to party support abilities.
  • High‑difficulty dungeons: Optional challenges reward rare materials like magicite, used to awaken Visions. Gilgamesh also appears as a recurring foe, culminating in a battle on the iconic big bridge.
