In a nutshell

  • 1001 Threads of Mizan debuts at Opening Night Live 2026
  • Inspired by One Thousand and One Nights with flying carpet co‑op traversal
  • Playable pre‑alpha demo available on the gamescom show floor this week

MBC Game Studio officially revealed its debut title, 1001 Threads of Mizan, during Opening Night Live 2026. Inspired by the timeless lore of One Thousand and One Nights, the game blends handcrafted world‑building, colossal boss battles, and cooperative play.

Led by CEO Daniel Engelhardt and COO Trevor Williams, the studio brings together talent from BioWare, Hi‑Rez, Ubisoft Montreal, and Bungie to craft an epic adventure for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

Flying Carpets, Colossal Jinn, and Co‑op Play

At the heart of Mizan lies its unique flying carpet traversal system. Players can soar through the skies with up to three friends in drop‑in, drop‑out co‑op, combining aerial mastery with fast‑paced combat against massive jinn creatures.

“The game is designed to capture the beauty and spirit of these timeless stories in a heroic gameplay experience that can be shared with friends,” said Engelhardt.

1001 Threads of Mizan – Heroes United by Shahrazad

The story follows three unlikely heroes — Yusra, Malik, and Sufyan — guided by the famed Storyweaver Shahrazad. Together, they must rediscover the lost power of the Mizan to defeat an ancient jinn king before his vengeance consumes humanity.

Creative Director Lars Bonde emphasized the vision: “What if you could experience an expansive adventure in the grand tradition of single‑player epics, but fully cooperatively with your friends?”
