Nintendo has officially announced that the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will launch worldwide on November 5, 2026 for the Nintendo Switch 2.
The reveal came with a new trailer showcasing the game’s modernized visuals, orchestral soundtrack, and expanded narrative features.
A reborn classic with modern upgrades
Originally released in 1998, Ocarina of Time is widely regarded as one of the greatest video games of all time. The remake brings the adventure into a new era with:
- Completely overhauled visuals down to material textures
- Symphonic orchestral music replacing the original MIDI score
- Fully voiced cutscenes and expanded character dialogue
- Improved camera and movement controls, including free jumping and right‑stick camera adjustments
- Faster load times and smoother performance across the board
Nintendo has also confirmed that the day/night cycle now continues seamlessly across towns and overworld areas, adding immersion to Hyrule’s living world.
Special packaging and collectibles
The first print run of the physical edition will feature textured foil cover art, available while supplies last. Fans can also look forward to two new ocarinas later this year: a playable version for musicians and an electric version from HORI that plays notes or entire songs at the press of a button.
Additionally, new amiibo figures of Young Link and Young Zelda are planned for 2027, unlocking retro‑style masks in‑game. For crossover fans, the previously announced Mineru’s Construct amiibo for Tears of the Kingdom will release on September 17.
Zelda Notes integration
Nintendo is expanding its Zelda Notes service within the Switch App to support Ocarina of Time Remake. Players will be able to:
- Track daily accomplishments and stats
- Solve “Gossip Quest” challenges by finding in‑game locations via hint images
- Play a virtual ocarina on smart devices, create music scores, and share them via QR codes
- Take part in a massive Ocarina of Time Quiz with over 2,000 questions, playable daily or with in‑game rupees for extra attempts.
