Nike partners with South Korean team T1 Esports
Nike has officially announced its partnership with the world champion T1 Entertainment & Sports organization.
The partnership will see the T1 athletes wear Nike footwear and apparel uniforms throughout their tournaments. This includes all the teams including the League of Legends team, and of course Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok.
In addition, Nike will help create training programs to further enhance the athletic capabilities of the players and teams. The programs will be based on the sports research facilities and athletic training expertise of Nike. These will be implemented in the T1 Headquarters in Seoul planned to open in early 2020.
“We’re interested in understanding and learning more about the relationship between improved physical fitness and athleticism as it relates to gaming. These athletes have unique skill sets that we believe we can help improve through tailored training methods,” said Brant Hirst, Marketing Director, Nike Korea.
T1 is one of the most successful organizations in the history of esports. The T1 League of Legends has three World Champions under its belt, in addition, the team has brought home two Mid-Season Invitational and eight League of Legends Champions Korea.
“Together we are thrilled to bring innovation to the next level through Nike’s premier training programs and performance wear that will help maximize our players’ potential and strengthen the longevity of their careers,” said Joe Marsh, CEO of T1 in a statement.
