Despite the leaks and the numerous boycott campaigns towards the game, it seems that Naughty Dog’s latest offering is right on track to be the best selling console exclusive for the PS4. In Europe, at the very least.

Coming from an interview with CNET, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment Jim Ryan went on to say that The Last of Us 2 already has more pre-orders than Spider-Man at the same time before launch, considering the negative feedback it has been receiving over the past few weeks. For context, Spider-Man went on to become the ‘highest sold game exclusively made for PS4 and the distinction of being best-selling Super Hero game of all time!’ as per Marvel.

“We hope this’ll be a defining game for this generation,” as Ryan continues to heap praise upon The Last of Us 2, which is scheduled to launch on June 19.
