Dying Light 2 launches on December 7, gameplay and Collector’s Edition revealed
As promised in the last Techland livestream last March, the game will release this year and as announced on the Dying 2 Know Episode One event, Dying Light 2 will launch on December 7, 2021. While it feels a lot like another anticipated game from last year, I’m not going to lie that what’s being promised is certainly looking a lot more interesting and ambitious. If you missed the livestream, you can watch it below:
Dying Light 2 is set 20 years after the first game where the Harran virus became a worldwide epidemic in 2021. Fifteen years later, 98% of humanity has been infected, and the last bastion of uninfected humans now live in various settlements in the world. The largest city, dubbed “The City”, houses different factions that the protagonist Aiden Caldwell encounters, shaping the future of The City and determine his own fate.
Much of the story choices depend on Aiden’s in-game choices, which will affect the narrative. As for the gameplay, much freedom will be given to the player making the combat and parkour system of the previous game more dynamic and free flowing. Of course, night time becomes a more dangerous setting for the player as the infected now houses different forms and will be much more aggressive than the previous game. You can play alone or up to a 4-player co-op.
There will be more episodes of the Dying 2 Know livestream showing a more in-depth feature on many of Dying Light 2‘s game system, parkour, and world. For now, we’re taking everything with a grain of salt, but the launch date sounds like a feasible release date and hopefully it launches in a playable state.
The Dying Light 2 Collector’s Edition was also revealed, and it contains the following:
