Battlefield 2042 will feature cross-play, cross-progression, and cross-commerce
If there was any question about these features making its way to EA’s latest title, then worry no more as its been confirmed that Battlefield 2042 will feature the trifecta of cross-play, cross-progression, and cross-commerce.
As mentioned in a new Battlefield Briefing post, the developers are still building these features that will be tested soon with a technical playtest, but the plan is to have all three.
Battlefield 2042 Cross-play
Cross-play has some limitations, which will separate certain platforms from each other, and this is because the current-gen versions of the game will be capable of 128-player rooms:
- PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 consoles (PC and console can opt-out from playing together)
- Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles
Cross-progression and cross-commerce will also be available, and this simply means that any and all progress and purchases made within one platform can be transferred to another, whether from PlayStation to Xbox or even PC.
Battlefield 2042 is available now for pre-order and will retail for $59.99 for PS4 and Xbox One, and $69.99 for PS5 and Xbox Series. A Gold and Ultimate Edition is also available, which will give players access as early as October 15.
