Evo, the premier fighting game tournament in the world, has announced that it will be cancelling its event this year due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Originally scheduled for July 31 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, the EVO official Twitter Account made the announcement to the dismay of fans, saying that the “health and well being of our community is our highest priority,”

All ticket purchases will be refunded in due time and while the event is cancelled, an online event is being planned for this Summer. Further details will be made available by the Evo team once ready.

Evo 2020 is not the only gaming event that has been cancelled due to COVID-19. E3 and Gamescom have announced cancellations for this year, while IGN, GameSpot, and Geoff Keighley have online events planned throughout the Summer.
