Machi Esports crowned PCS 2020 Summer Split Champions

League of Legends’ Pacific Championship Series 2020 Summer Split has just recently come to a close with the Taiwanese team Machi Esports (MCX) being crowned champions.

Machi Esports battled it out with Hong Kong squad PSG Talon (PSG) in the Finals. The two teams had played each other 16 times on stage in this calendar year and split the matches between themselves. The two teams have established their rivalry as an “El Clasico” of the PCS.

The two teams went the distance in an exciting five-game Upper Bracket Finals with PSG inching out a victory. The loss dropped MCX to the Lower Bracket where they faced and swept fellow Taiwanese squad J Team, forcing a rematch of the Spring Split Finals between MCX and PSG.

This time around, MCX were ready for revenge from the Upper Bracket Finals and the Spring Split Finals as they swept their rivals to claim the Summer Split title.

This is the first championship for Machi Esports after seven years competing in the Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau League of Legends Master Series and now in the Pacific Championship Series. In addition to the title and Worlds 2020 spot, the team also took home USD 30,000.

Despite the loss, PSG Talon will still be representing the region alongside Machi Esports at the 2020 World Championship in Shanghai, China.
