Vicarious Visions is reportedly working on a Diablo II Remake
After the news broke out about Blizzard acquiring the developer to be “fully dedicated to existing Blizzard games and initiatives”, it has now been known that one game they will be working on is a Diablo II Remake.
In a report by Bloomberg, it was revealed that Vicarious Visions “has been working with Blizzard since last year on the Diablo franchise, including a planned remake of Diablo II, people familiar with the plans said.” Jason Schreier also clarified that Blizzard’s Team 1 (StarCraft II, HotS) was previously working on the remake but was transferred to Team 3 (Diablo IV), who has been working with Vicarious Visions on the remake.
Vicarious Visions was responsible for the utterly fantastic Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 remaster, so we surely know that the team can do very good work. Upon hearing of the acquisition, social media was buzzing with mixed reactions, but now with the news of the Diablo II Remake being handled by the team, a lot of people looking forward to this can now rest easy that the upcoming remake is in very good hands.
