New Xbox Game Pass ‘Family Plan’ Offer is Being Tested in Select Regions
Microsoft has started testing a new Xbox Game Pass offer that will allow Game Pass Ultimate members to share their subscriptions with other users.
According to an Xbox Wire news post, Xbox insiders in Columbia and Ireland can preview a new plan that will allow Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to add up to four people, each with their own access to all benefits and games of the said plan.
A number of preview limitations have been listed, such as having the new members reside in the same country as the original subscriber.
“Joining the Game Pass – Insider Preview will convert the time remaining on your membership to time in the new plan, based upon the monetary value of the old membership,” says Microsoft. “For example, a full month of Ultimate will be converted to 18 days of membership for this plan.”
The new Xbox Game Pass plan will obviously be more expensive than its usual $15 price. Should this preview start officially rolling out to more territories and countries, the computed price is looking to add up to $25 per month (around PHP1,400).
This family plan setup is similar to Nintendo Switch Online, offering a family membership tier that allows a group of users to pitch in, dividing costs across users and lowering the barrier even more to entering the ecosystem.
