2020 has no lack of fine games that everyone can consider to be possible Game of the Year winners. You’ve got the likes of Final Fantasy VII Remake, Ghost of Tsushima, Hades, and even the highly controversial The Last of Us Part II. Even with these fine titles, there is one game that is so anticipated and so hyped that a lot believe it to be the Game of the Year even though it hasn’t even released yet and that’s CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077. Unfortunately, Keanu will have to settle for next year.

Earlier today, CDPR made the tough decision to delay the game again, with the new release date being December 10. Due to this, Cyberpunk 2077 has now forfeited its eligibility to participate in The Game Awards for 2020. The announcement was made by none other than Geoff Keighley himself.

Citing challenges to making the game compatible across 9 versions, CDPR have decided to delay the game by 3 weeks, taking on a new launch date of December 10. With 3 delays under its belt, who knows if there could be another delay, but then again, this would only mean good things for the quality of the game.

If schedules hold true, and they rarely do in the time of COVID, Cyberpunk 2077 will be facing stiff competition next year from the likes of Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarok, and maybe even Final Fantasy XVI.
