Reports say that a new Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic is in the works and will not involve EA or Bioware

Arguably one of, if not the best Star Wars game ever made, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic looks to be making a comeback if recent reports are to be believed.

According to VGC, a podcast from credited Star Wars insider Bespin Bulletin says that the new installment is in development by an unnamed developer. EA and Bioware are reportedly not part of this new endeavor.

As per the podcast, “Amongst my digging, I heard there is a Knights of the Old Republic project in development somewhere, I talked to a couple of people, and I also found out that Jason Schreier said that it’s not with EA, and we’ll ‘never guess’ who the studio is that’s making this game.”

If you recall, it was recently revealed that Ubisoft will be handling a new Star Wars open-world game care of Massive Entertainment (The Division 2) since the EA exclusivity clause has ended, and it turns out one of the titles that will be worked on is a Knights of the Old Republic installment.

On a couple of ResetEra threads, Jason Schreier replies with “Nobody’s going to guess right that’s for sure”, implying that the previous guesses about who could be developing the rumored game were all wrong, where Larian, Obsidian, and even Spiders were tossed into the mix. Industry insider Shinobi602 also replied on a different thread, saying “It’s not as mysterious as you think. It’s just not a household name most people are aware of.” as a reply to who the mystery developers are. One thing quite definite based on the circulating talks is that the new game is indeed true and both replies from these industry personalities point to the rumor being more than just hearsay.

Looking forward to a new KOTOR game? Let us know what you think!
