Lost Judgment, the sequel to Judgment, has been the successor of the beat-em-up style of the Yakuza franchise, with Ichiban Kasuga and Like a Dragon going the way of the JRPG. Sega has unveiled the new opening cinematic for Lost Judgment, and it looks like the characters are now self-contained in their universe parallel to Kiryu and Kasuga’s world.

The sequence looks anime as heck, which also features the rocking theme song “Rasen” by jon-YAKITORY featuring Ado.

It’s pretty cool that right away we can confirm the returning characters from the original Judgment including your trusty sidekicks Kaito and Higashi, the lawyers from Genda Law Office, and parkour Robin Hood Sugiura. We also get a close look at the new antagonists and side characters seen from the opening trailer as it takes a beat from classic anime openings showing us what to expect. From what we’re seeing so far, it’s a step up from the stilted and unappealing plot from the first Judgment.

Lost Judgment launches on September 24 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC.
