Residentvania, a 2D mashup of RE Village and Castlevania, looks awesome
Castle Dimitrescu is one of the iconic locations in Resident Evil Village, the latest installment in the long running franchise from Capcom. The castle holds many locations and secrets, all of which are uncovered by Ethan Winters as he tries to solve the mystery of the disappearance of his family. While it certainly works as a first-person survival horror game, one fan thought it would be great to turn it into a literal Castlevania game.
This fantastic idea called ‘Residentvania’ comes by way of Florin Oco on Youtube, who has published a video entitled “What if Resident Evil: Village was a 2D Castlevania game?” The end result is a great look at Ethan killing lycans through a side-scrolling trek through the castle, even picking up some crystal skulls and some of the Duke’s dishes along the way.

Development for Residentvania took 2 months, with every asset in the game being custom-made. You can give it a try as Florin Oco made it available for download, which you can play for free.
Castlevania has been a hot topic over the weekend, with reports surfacing that Konami is working on a “reimagining” of the series, along with other titles like Metal Gear Solid and even Silent Hill.
