Fans who have been waiting for the return of Sly Cooper since his last adventure back in 2013 may be in for a treat as a recent insider rumor making the rounds revolves around the return of this thieving raccoon.

The ‘news’ comes from Nick Baker once again, who also recently reported about a possible PS5 exclusive multiplayer Marvel game, now saying that his Sony source just confirmed that “Sly is indeed coming back”. Details are understandably scarce since that’s all Nick really had to say about the rumor, but he frames it as good news and his certainty about the matter is optimistic.

As with rumors, it is always wise to take this with a grain of salt, but Nick has been right about previous rumors too so he’s built up some level of credibility at least.

In what shape or form, we don’t know yet. We know at least that Sony has been putting effort into making movies and shows as evidenced by their ongoing deal with HBO for The Last of Us, along with the upcoming Twisted Metal movie.

Or maybe an all-new game from Sucker Punch, who has just launched Ghost of Tsushima: Directors Cut to rave reviews from critics and gamers alike.

To be clear, Sony has not made any official announcement on this yet, so whatever the case may be, it would be a real blast from the past if Sly Cooper does make his triumphant return to the PS4 or PS5 sooner rather than later.
