Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have announced that Jane Foster, The Mighty Thor, will be the next playable character for Marvel’s Avengers as part of update 2.5.

In an April development update, which focused on upcoming system improvements and an emphasis on in-game events to make them more rewarding, it was revealed that Jane Foster will be making her way to the game in a future update and will have similar abilities to Thor but will also feature unique elements.

Jane Foster has been making the rounds recently as part of the latest Thor: Love And Thunder Trailer from Marvel Studios, where she is seen wielding the Mjolnir towards the end of the trailer.

The devs had this to say about the new playable character:

Beyond that will be Update 2.5, and while we’ll be coming back with specifics on timing later, we can share that it will introduce a new playable Hero for all platforms: Jane Foster: The Mighty Thor! Our Hero designs are driven first and foremost by their core comic book identities, so, as a fellow wielder of Mjolnir, her suite of abilities will have a lot in common with the Odinson’s, however she will also have elements that are distinctly Jane. More details on how Jane will come to life in our game will be coming in the future.

Coming from the release of Spider-Man and Black Panther alongside the War for Wakanda expansion, it would be interesting to see if interest for the game picks up further with this announcement.
