World of Warcraft Mobile Game Reportedly Scrapped due to Finance Issues
A World of Warcraft Mobile Game has reportedly been canceled by both Activision Blizzard and NetEase due to financial disputes.
As reported by Bloomberg, the said World of Warcraft mobile game had been in development for three years and has resulted in NetEase disbanding a team of more than 100 developers. Because the two sides could not come to terms with financial details, the project was simply scrapped, according to a person familiar with the deal.
This project, code-named Neptune, was originally set to be an MMORPG in the World of Warcraft universe, a spinoff that’s set during a different time period. Because of the recent proceedings, the partnership between the two companies has been questioned despite their longstanding relationship.
Both companies have not yet commented on the matter.
Furthermore, the report also stated that another mobile game was canceled, and this was supposed to be a Pokemon GO-like Warcraft title code-named Orbis, which had been in development for over four years.
Whatever the case may be, Blizzard is still on track to launch their new mobile game, Arclight Rumble, later this year. In the meantime, the team is currently raking in the benefits of Diablo Immortal, which was recently updated to prepare for its Third season.
