If there was any doubt about it, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has confirmed that the library of Activision Blizzard games, which includes the likes of Call of Duty, Overwatch, and Diablo, will be making its way to Xbox Game Pass once the acquisition pushes through.

This was announced in a recently published blog post on the Microsoft website, where Phil Spencer speaks up about offering these games to players by giving them a choice in how the users will want to engage with these titles, opening it up to a larger community than before.

“Giving players choice in how they play their games makes gaming more accessible and leads to larger, more vibrant communities of players,” says Spencer. “Choice is equally important to developers. Developers benefit from having a diversity of distribution and business models for their games. Choice unlocks opportunities for innovation and enables the industry to grow.”

Spencer explains that part of giving players that choice is through Game Pass, a subscription service that allows players to access a wide library of titles through various means, such as cloud gaming. Xbox Game Pass is widely considered as a very good deal, and it’s about to get even better.

Spencer then assures subscribers that they will be placing Activision Blizzard’s library on the service should the acquisition deal push through. “We intend to make Activision Blizzard’s much-loved library of games – including Overwatch, Diablo and Call of Duty – available in Game Pass and to grow those gaming communities. By delivering even more value to players, we hope to continue growing Game Pass, extending its appeal to mobile phones and any connected device.”

Additionally, the Xbox boss reiterates that they will be trodding down a “principled path,” as a response to qualms about these franchises being taken away from other platforms. “As we’ve said before, we are committed to making the same version of Call of Duty available on PlayStation on the same day the game launches elsewhere,” says Spencer. “We will continue to enable people to play with each other across platforms and across devices.”

Should the deal push through, and it most likely will, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will surely be enjoying a huge injection of more games to choose from.
