Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon Boss Battles will be a ‘Highlight,’ Multiplayer Confirmed
We have new information about the recently announced Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, courtesy of an interview by IGN with FromSoftware.
Director Masaru Yamamura, the lead designer of Sekiro, shares that boss battles will be the highlight of the game, saying “The essence of the battles, in which the player reads the enemy’s moves and then plays games with them, is of course provided, as is typical of FromSoftware. In this title, both the enemy and your own machine are aggressive and violent in their attacks.”
Yamamura added that they are developing the game so that “players can enjoy the dynamic and intense boss battles that only mechas can offer, along with the unique aspects of AC, such as how to assemble the right parts to take on the strongest enemies.”
That being said, Hidetaka Miyazaki also shared that they have not been making a conscious effort to direct Armored Core VI towards a more “Soulsborne type gameplay,” and thus it won’t simple by a “Sci-fi Soulslike.”
In another interview with IGN, Yamamura confirmed that they plan to have a versus mode similar to previous titles, where players will be able to customize a mech and take it to battle. Apart from this confirmation, more details about multiplayer will be revealed at a later date.
Yamamura added that “The main focus in AC6 – on the story mode at least – is having that story develop and play out. We’ve concentrated on single-player for the story mode.”
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is scheduled to launch in 2023 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
