Death Stranding Film Adaptation Coming From Kojima Productions and Hammerstone Studios
Kojima Productions has announced that a film adaptation of Death Stranding is coming, in partnership with Alex Lebovici’s Hammerstone Studios.
No plot details have been announced, but it is said that this first ever feature adaptation of the game will introduce new elements and characters within the Death Stranding universe. Hammerstone Studios is known for titles like Barbarian, Bill & Ted Face the Music, Boy Kills World, and Kung Fury.
“I couldn’t be more excited about this new partnership with Hammerstone Studios,” said Hideo Kojima. “This is a pivotal moment for the franchise and I’m really looking forward to collaborating with them in bringing Death Stranding to the big screen.”
“We are thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to partner with brilliant and iconic Hideo Kojima on his first film adaptation,” said Lebovici. “Unlike other big budget tentpole video game adaptations, this will be something far more intimate and grounded. Our goal is to redefine what a video game adaptation could be when you have creative and artistic freedom. This film will be an authentic “Hideo Kojima” production.”
In other Kojima-related news, Death Stranding 2 was recently announced during The Game Awards 2022, which features the return of some familiar faces like Lea Seydoux (Fragile) and Norman Reedus (Sam Porter Bridges).
