Street Fighter TV and Film Rights Acquired by Legendary Entertainment
The TV and Film rights to Street Fighter have reportedly been acquired by Legendary Entertainment, known for titles like Pacific Rim and Dune.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has acquired the rights to both TV and Film and will be working closely with Capcom on future projects. This could very well mean that Street Fighter will be making its way back to more than just consoles in the coming months and years.
As of writing, no specific projects or plans have been announced just yet.
Street Fighter released a film over 20 years ago, which released to a lukewarm reception and starred the likes of Jean-Claude Van Damme (Guile), Ming-Na Wen (Chun-Li), the late Raul Julia (M. Bison), and more.
Capcom is currently working on Street Fighter 6, which is due to release on June 2, 2023, and is receiving praise for the upcoming title because of its crisp gameplay and fantastic visuals.
