Filipina Voice Talent Inka Magnaye Joins Cast of the Philippine Release of ‘Blue Beetle’
Warner Bros. Philippines has announced that Filipina voice talent and content creator Inka Magnaye will voice the Scarab in the Philippine release of Blue Beetle.
Magnaye will bring her own distinct charm to the Scarab, and she says that some of the lines will be spoken in Tagalog. This achievement makes her the first Philippine-based Filipino talent to do voice-over work in a DC film and will be properly credited in the film.
“I’M IN A DC MOVIE!!” Magnaye exclaims in a social media post, saying she is “wildly honored” to announce her dream of being part of a superhero world that has now come true.
The Scarab, called Khaji-Da, guides lead character Jaime Reyes (portrayed by Cobra Kai star Xolo Maridueña) and helps him discover and control his seemingly limitless new powers on his journey to becoming the Super Hero Blue Beetle. The Scarab is voiced by singer/actress Becky G in the original version.
Inka Magnaye is considered to be royalty in the niche voicework industry in the Philippines, with her work spanning various spaces such as Philippine Airlines (hers is that very soothing voice in the Philippine flag carrier’s in-flight instructional safety announcement), Pond’s, Smart, Globe, Nissin, Mitsubishi, and popular podcast “Sleeping Pill With Inka.”
Watch for Inka Magnaye’s turn as the Scarab in “Blue Beetle,” opening exclusively in Philippine cinemas on August 16, 2023.
