  • Along with this, its HD titles will pursue a multiplatform strategy across Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC

Square Enix has revealed its latest financial results, and, in it, a new medium-term business plan centered on a multiplatform strategy and a shift from quantity to quality.

In a section that stresses how the company can diversify earning opportunities, a shift to a multiplatform strategy was highlighted, which includes Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, and PCs.

“For HD titles, the Group will aggressively pursue a multiplatform strategy that includes Nintendo platforms, PlayStation, Xbox, and PCs. Especially, in regards to major franchises and AAA titles including catalog titles, it will build an environment where more customers can enjoy our titles. In addition, it will also devise a platform strategy for SD titles that includes not only iOS and Android, but also the possibility of PC launches. “

“Furthermore, the Group will strive to maximize the acquisition of new users when launching a title and that of recurring users after starting management of game operation.”

Square Enix has leaned heavily on bringing exclusive titles to PlayStation over a number of years, but this new focus by the company would likely see this change in the near future. At the moment, Final Fantasy Remake, Rebirth, and Final Fantasy XVI remain the biggest exclusives PlayStation has, but these titles have already begun hitting the PC slowly.

It remains to be seen if PlayStation will continue to strike some sort of exclusivity deal with the company and how open Square Enix will be to accepting those deals moving forward.
