Playground Games has announced that Forza Horizon 6 is launching on May 19, 2026 for Xbox Series, PC via Steam, with day‑one Game Pass Ultimate access, and premium Edition owners get early access starting May 15, 2026. PS5 version is coming later in 2026.
At the recent Developer Direct, Playground Games unveiled an extended look at Forza Horizon 6, set in the breathtaking landscapes of Japan. Unlike previous entries, where players began as seasoned racers, Horizon 6 starts you off as a tourist chasing the dream of joining the Horizon Festival.
Cultural Inspirations of Forza Horizon 6
Japan’s diverse geography is recreated with care, from neon‑soaked Tokyo plazas and Shibuya Crossing to mountainous passes and docklands. The design team focused less on one‑to‑one accuracy and more on capturing the feel of driving through Japan, showcasing vertical skylines, hidden shortcuts, and dense urban streets.
Players will explore the world of Forza Horizon 6 with Jordy and Mei, with Mei offering insider knowledge as a Japanese car builder. Playground Games also worked with cultural consultant Kyoko Yamashita to ensure authenticity, extending to features such as the Collection Journal, inspired by Japan’s stamp‑collecting tradition, which allows players to document landmarks, murals, and personal experiences.

The Estate and Car Meets
Forza Horizon 6 introduces The Estate, a customizable land inspired by Japan’s Akiya (abandoned rural properties). Players can build tracks, hideaways, or community spaces using in‑game credits.
Meanwhile, Car Meets recreates Japan’s legendary Daikoku gatherings, offering social hubs where players can showcase cars, download designs, and connect with others.

Cars & Cover Stars
With over 550 cars at launch, Forza Horizon 6 delivers its most diverse roster yet. The cover stars include the 2025 GR GT Prototype and the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser, both rendered with inspiration by traditional Japanese Sumi‑E ink paintings.
